In going anywhere, it s always wise to start at the middle. The center is a good place for a leisurely stroll because many of its narrow streets have pedestrian lanes. These pedestrian walkways link small and pretty plazas which are otherwise tucked away by the full and busy pavement cafés and bars. These food places serve great seafood dishes that are characteristic of the Huelva Costa de la Luz . You can also visit the elegant Plaza de la Laguna , for eating places which have outdoor seating.
After the main square, the Paseo de la Ribera is the harbor along the ferry dock. Nearby is the old town which is the fifteenth-century old Iglesia de San Salvador. It is worth your visit particularly for its ancient tower which has superb views across Portugal . There are also similar good views you can see from the tower of the sixteenth-century old San Francisco church nearby. As a matter of fact, there is no escaping Ayamonte's history what with all its Baroque churches and even some traces of the Manueline style due to the influence of its being near to Portugal . The town's traces of age and nobility can be seen everywhere, especially with its monuments and ruins

CHAPEL OF SAN SEBASTIAN
This used to be a church until the year 1948. Now it is transformed into a center of observation of nature and has a beautiful front that is sure to catch your eye.

CHURCH OF NUESTRA SE DE LAS ANGUSTIAS
The Church of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias is as old as anything and dates back to the 15 th century. This is the church where the Virgin of las Angustias and Saint Diego are said to be worshipped. Inside you can see 16th century Renaissance redos that are decorated with bas-reliefs along with a choir that has a Mudejar coffered ceiling.
CHURCH OF EL SALVADOR
This is a ruined castle that has Roman foundations along with an Arab tower that is the remains of Baroque decoration. It is actually a mixture of Baroque, Renaissance and Madujar styles and was built upon a previous Mosque in the most elevated part of town. It was however, seriously damaged during the Lisbon earthquake on 1775 and now present altar piece replaced the one which used to have Van Hemmesens Flemish pictures. Its Tower of San Francisco rises above its reddish tiled roofs, and both the nave and a side chapel have coffered ceilings in the Mudejar style which is a redos of the 17th century. This is considered a National Artistic Historical Monument as well as a splendid setting for the Festival of Classical Music.
CASA GRANDE
Casa Grande to built in the XV111th century as ordered by Manuel Rivero . It has an elegant beautiful fa balcony and patio as well as the Culture Council and Library which are all located here amidst other exhibitions.
AYUNTAMIENTO
This place was restored keeping its Andalusian style plus modern administrative offices and old patios and pottery. This is a two-storey building which was restored in 2001 and is situated at Plaza de la Laguna and is now the Town Hall.
BULLRING
This was built during the 19 th century and was re-inaugurated in the year 1952. It s a place that displays and represents a typical image of the town and bullfights here are celebrated at any time of the year.

MARISMAS DEL GUADIANA
If you ve got enough of ancient things to visit, try visiting the natural things. Ayamonte is surrounded by protected areas filled with wildlife. There s the Marismas del Guadiana along with the marshes of the Guadiana estuary which are teeming with herons, storks and colorful flamingos.
