Cádiz is the place to go to when you have the time to see the sights of a great culture. There are lots of places to wander round and things to see here.

Cádiz boasts of a 260 km. coastline which contains enumerable beaches of white sandy shores. Cádiz has the reputation of being the oldest city in Europe and began as a trading post in 1100 BC. In the year 1812 the provincial government made the Liberal Constitution which is Spain´s first ever constitution.
The Cathedral of Cádiz
Cathedral opening times:
Monday to Saturday From 10:00am - 1:00pm, and 5:30 - 7:00pm

This is the most impressive landmark in Cádiz and from a distance it looks more like a mosque with a golden dome. It is 50 meters high and building work began in 1716 and completed on 1838. It has a Cathedral Museum which is home to an impressive collection which includes a crypt of the tomb of Manuel de Falla, a fine composer born in Cádiz and who won international recognition.

Torre Tavira and Camara Obscura
The Tavira tower used to be part of the palace of a certain Marquis of Recano but it was named after its first watchman who is D. Antonio Tavira. It rises 45 meters above sea level and was considered the highest lookout point in Cádiz. Thus, it was designated as the official watchtower of the town.

Today, the tower is a Camera Obscura which is an interesting device that consists of a white concave screen buried inside the tower. This set up allows you to see what is happening right outside the tower through optical effects. For more information on the camera obscura visit the following link: http://www.torretavira.com

Santa Cruz Church
This is a church divided into two distinctive areas which are the dark and simplistic oval chapel of the 18th century, and the upper elegantly decorated floor.

San Felipe Neri
The place where the first liberal constitution was drafted the provisional government and is now a place of pilgrimage for democracy lovers.
