The visitor can walk around this village in the quiet and discover the history of Palos for himself.
In its Church of San Jorge, the royal letter that bears the ordinances about equipment and personnel of its famous discoverer ships were read. And this was well remembered and preserved by its locals. In the inner part of the church there is a cut in alabaster from the 13 hundred years as well as an altarpiece made of ceramics bearing the toskanischen style . Here at St Jorge, Columbus and the crew prayed before setting on their historical sail. The water needed for their long voyage was drawn from the old well in Palos.
Also in this beautiful Gothic construction there lie three paintings all from the 16th century of San Jorge, Santiago. The virgin's coronation together with a crucifixion and Santa Ana were well-depicted from the renaissance. Going down you ll be able to find yourself in a place that is soaked in the beginnings of the 15th century along with an opening which is well-connected to the river with the city. Going further, you ll be able to reach the renowned place of La Fontanilla . There is also the cloister La Rábida , to which lies a sole dedication to the story and monuments of the man. Another tribute is also made to another important man in the town hall, where one of the famous sons of the city captain Martin Alonso Pinzón is revered, as he played a very important role in the discovery of America. In the main square is this Statue to Pinzon, the builder of the ships and also a plaque to the sailors most of whom hailed from the village of Palos. The former residence of this man is one from the 16th century makings and it has lately been restored especially its fa There is also a museum made which can be viewed upon prior registration at the town hall of Palos .

The town still has its Hospital of de la Misericordia which is the heritage of the old hospital of de la Sangre. This is where sick persons of Palos , especially the adventurers and seafarers took refuge in and where nurtured back to life.

The building of the hospital is of Biotypes and is one of the few remaining examples of such in the town. Around it, Palos can boast of beautiful surroundings especially besides La Rábida . In here there are lagoons which are all in proximity such as the "Laguna de las Madres y Palos " as well as the "Estero de Domingo Rubio". Nearby is also the botanical garden which was furnished by José Celestino Mutis .
